Hispanic Heritage Week Appreciations! 

Dear Nosotros Members:

The School of Business and Economics (SBE) invites you to participate in an informal Q&A focus group. The SBE Committee on Diversity needs your input and perspective to help us attract more diverse applicants to the SBE. We would especially like to learn more about your decision to apply to Tech and your general experiences here.

Join myself and a few others for this opportunity to share your valuable insights. All information will remain anonymous and confidential and you will not be put on a list or contacted subsequently. To ensure adequate discussion among the group we'll set a limit of 10 participants. All majors and class levels are welcome.

The focus group will meet Wednesday March 19, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Room G-17 of Wadsworth Hall. Free Pizza and Soda will be provided. Also, we'll add $20 to your Tech Express campus card. Please RSVP to me at: dorozco@mtu.edu if you would like to join us.

The SBE Diversity Committee

We announce that PhD candidate student in environmental engineering Andrea Munoz has been awarded the Outstanding Student Paper Award from the hydrology section of the American Geophysical Union.
Congratulations Andrea!

As per discussion of our general meeting held at the library on February 21st, we have unanimously concluded as follows:
NOSOTROS Hispanic-Latino Student organization is no longer going to be affiliated to SHPE. (11 members presented, 10 voted for the change and 1 abstinence) As the result, the current e-board is going to take action accordingly and a new student organization affiliated to SHPE is going to be created as well as new by-law for NOSOTROS is going to be defined soon. This is a small step for NOSOTROS, one giant leap for the Hispanic/Latino Student Organization at Michigan Technological University towards the promising future of our community.

NOSOTROS Latin Student Organization proudly communicates that the Hispanic Heritage Week was a successful event. We want to express our thanks to all the speakers for dedicating their valuable time to the diffusion of the Latin Culture: Jorge Kurita, Jose Camilo Uzquiano, Giancarlo Calbimonte Perez, Ezequiel Medici, Juan Morinelli and Rudiger Escobar.

Also, we want to thank all the students that participated in the First Spanish Essay Competition and we have the pleasure to announce the winners:
